Gallo Family Vineyards Summer Red

Did anyone else try the Gallo Family Vineyards Summer Red at the wine fair? Very odd, looks like a red wine but tastes like a rose. Made from Zinfandel, pinot noir and barbera. As a red wine fan i'm not sure it was really my cup of tea but i'm sure that my rose drinking friends will love it!

For those who are interested in trying the Gallo Summer Red, it was recently nominated the best match with Apple Crumble and Custard in the What Food? What Wine? competition...a perfect Autumn warmer.

I tried this at the Edinburgh Wine Fair last weekend and thought it was lovely. I'm usually a White Zinfandel fan but loved this red and will definately look out for it in the shops!

I love this Red wime. As a rose drinker it is introducing me to red wine. Its so fruity and i have reconmended it to so many people

Having been a long term fan of chilled reds, I was intrigued to see the latest offering from EJG. Frankly I was surprised at the the varietal mix, Zin, Pinot and Barbera is an odd mix and I wouldn't disagree with anyone who said it reminded them of a Rose, but that surely is not the point! More to the point why is a summer red being matched apple crumble & custard, sort of says it all really!
