Wine made simple

What are you drinking on Valentines Day?

valentine wine

So, it’s that time of year again, Dionysus is high in the air and romance is all over, and even if you haven’t got a special someone to share the evening with, you’ll probably still want to spoil yourself just a little with a great wine to see the evening through. So, we’ve picked a couple of wines below that’ll be sure to entertain and bring a smile to your face whether you’re romancing with your significant other, or putting on a few soppy DVD’s.

To start we’ve picked the NV Freixenet Cava Elyssia Rose Pinot Noir. Delightfully crisp and fruity, this fabulous sparkling rosado is scented with berry fruits and has a lovely, sweet aftertaste. Jamie Goode of the Sunday Express says how this prettily packaged cava is full of pink colour and has exuberant cherry and berry fruits with a subtle herby edge, adding also that how is “Better with food than many sparkling roses it’s another good choice to serve with that romantic dinner for two”.

Second up we’ve got the Tesco Finest Old Vine Selection Tempranillio. Hailing from Spain, this lovely red is light enough on the pallet to share over a candle lit dinner, whilst still packing plenty of flavour to produce plenty of smiles. Full of bright aromas, mixing red berry and black berry fruits. A rich mouth-feel with plenty of red berry flavours mixed with soft vanilla notes from oak ageing.

And we couldn’t have a valentines post without mentioning some Champagne. Tesco Finest Vintage Champage is the real deal, a full bodied, complex, dry Champagne rich and rounded citrus flavours with an elegant mousse.  Olly Smith from Live Magazine said that this is another belter from the Tesco Finest range, with ‘a rich quality and complex layers of flavour. Excellent value.’

So, hope those tips will help you on the day, have fun everyone!
