Its pancake day, a great excuse to have fun making (flipping) and eating lots of pancakes. I enjoy the basic lemon and sugar fillings, what is your filling of choice? I am trying to explore different sweet wines and so asked Nick Juby to recommend a wine to go with my pancakes, he suggested two wines:
First the Tesco Moscatel De Valencia, this is a fantastic product for the price, at only £3.99. A richly sweet desert wine full of fresh, grapey and floral flavours with a lemon curd finish, a great tipple for pancake day.
But, if you're after a wine with a little more complexity, then he suggested the Tesco Finest dessert Semillon. This is a brilliant gold medal winner made by Oz winery De Bortoli, with notes of apricot, peach, honey and nuts. Wonderful with fresh fruit and meringue puddings and perfect for with your pancakes.
And if you're looking for recipes, you can't get much better than the selection that are available on the Tesco Real Food site, with everything from Blueberry pancakes, to rolled pancakes with rhubarb filling and even ham and parsley pancakes for those who prefer the savoury side of things. They're all there for you to try out.
So, let us know what you're going to be drinking today, we'd love to hear your combinations of pancakes and wines.
